At 15:16 on December 18, 2021, No.1 BF of 3800m3, landmark of energy upgrading project including newly built 2×3800m3 BF and its supporting auxiliary facility in SD STEEL LAIWU BRANCH COMPANY, has ignited for start-up.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr.Wang Peiwen, general manager of SD STEEL LAIWU BRANCH COMPANY. Mr. Wei Xinmin, chairman of SDM, and Mr. Gu Zhuoqi, Party secretary of SDM, attended the strat-up opening ceremony and Mr. Wei Xinmin delivered a speech.

Mr. Wei Xinmin said: the energy upgrading project of SD STEEL LAIWU BRANCH COMPANY represents a key project of energy upgrading in Shandong Province. It is of far-reaching significance to the upgrading of iron and steel industry, low-carbon environmental protection and green intelligence in Shandong Province. It also means great significance to the sustainable and high-quality development of SD STEEL LAIWU BRANCH COMPANY. SDM has undertaken the general contracting task of two 3800m3 BF, RMHS, 100 ton converter of special steel, 65MW gas power generation and other as well as the design task of the utilities projects of the whole plant.

No.1 3800m3 BF is designed with 3.04 MTPA of iron, the largest BF in the history of LAIGANG. In terms of design, a series of modern large BF advanced technology is adopted, such as: BF long campaign comprehensive technology; visualization technology, expert system of BF; Comprehensive technology of high temperature and long campaign for improved top combustion HBS; Iron and steel "zero interface" technology; INBA (cold one) slag granulation technology; oxygen enrichment large coal injection technology. It provides strong technical support for the realization of large-scale, green, intelligent and low-carbon BF.

The project was started on September 16, 2019. SDM carefully planned, scientifically managed, constructed with protective screen and as per the schedule during the project construction. In the face of adverse factors such as abnormal fluctuations in the raw material market, environmental protection and production restriction, it actively organized all partners to effectively promote the project construction according to the requirements of ensuring safety, quality and progress. A total of 110000m3 of concrete pouring, 45000 tons of steel structure installation, 50000 tons of equipment installation and 65000 tons of refractory construction has been completed.

The successful ignition of No.1 3800m3 BF marks a major victory in the energy upgrading project of SD STEEL LAIWU BRANCH COMPANY, and the raw materials, sintering and BF are about to start a new stage of trial production and operation.
